Jacksonville, Florida, Sept. 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The results of the July 2018 Florida bar administration were released today with Florida Coastal School of Law recording a 62.5% first time, Florida, bar pass rate placing the law school 7th out of 11 law schools in the state. Florida Coastal’s first-time pass rate was higher than many other Florida law schools including Ave Maria School of Law (58.5%), Florida A&M (50.6%), Barry University School of Law (45.5%), and Nova Southeastern School of Law (42.9%).
Florida Coastal’s Dean Scott DeVito said, “We are very proud of our students who performed nearly as well as students from the University of Florida. Being only eight points below a first tier law school ranked 41st in US News and World Report is a great accomplishment for both our students and our faculty. This is especially true because UF enrolled students in 2015 with LSAT scores on average 13 points higher than those at Florida Coastal in 2015. This puts us closer to our goal of a 75% first time pass rate. “
Florida Coastal’s incoming credentials have increased each of the last three years. The Fall 2018 class boasts a 150 median LSAT score and a 3.11 undergraduate grade point average. The increased credentials have placed Florida Coastal at or higher than 50 plus other law schools in the country. The school has no plans to lower credentials as bar pass continues to go up year over year.
“Our students worked exceptionally hard and we’re very proud of their success,” said Jennifer Reiber, Dean of Academics. “Having personally taught and prepared these students for the bar exam, this Thursday I have the honor and privilege to watch them be sworn in as attorneys. It is the greatest day for any professor and I will happily represent the school and everyone who taught them.”
Florida Coastal School of Law (Coastal Law) is an ABA-accredited institution founded in 1996 and located in Jacksonville, Florida.
