SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 24, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MagicCube, the creator of the world’s only Software Trusted Execution Environment platform (sTEE™), today announced it was named by Gartner as a Cool Vendor in Security and Risk Management.
According to the report, “Cool vendors’ use of machine learning, chatbots and software-based trusted execution environments creates new opportunities in enabling digital business initiatives. Security and risk management leaders striving to balance assurance against scaling business operations should evaluate these solutions.”
“We are thrilled that our technology is being recognized,” said Sam Shawki, co-founder and CEO of MagicCube. “Our solutions are designed to take embedded security from its 1.0 physical stage, to embedded trust 2.0, where everything is virtualized, downloadable and subscription-based.”
MagicCube eliminates the need for a special chip and/or chip partition, moving the secure execution area into a software-only container. MagicCube replaces the on-chip TEE with a “software Trusted Execution Environment (sTEE),” or what MagicCube refers to as “the Cube.”
MagicCube’s sTEE platform has a wide range of use cases, including the current PIN on Glass product and software-only payment acceptance devices, ultimately any IoT devices that can't be secured using legacy solutions.

It’s been a busy year for MagicCube. After being named to Network World’s ‘10 Hot IoT Startups to Watch’ List and partnering with the PCI Security Standards Council last year and contributing to the newly-issued PCI Security Standard for software-based PIN entry on commercial off-the-shelf devices such as smartphones and tablets, MagicCube remains one of the strongest industry voices in bringing PIN-on-Glass solutions to market.
Earlier this week, MagicCube partnered with Javelin Strategy and Research on a new Impact Note that outlines the need for virtual trusted execution environments (vTEE) and software-based solutions to provide payment and financial service companies a secure environment for handling customer data. You can view the full report here. Additionally, MagicCube and Javelin Strategy will be co-hosting a webinar on November 6 (details and registration here).
