Friendship Place Stands in Support of Our Jewish Neighbors and Congregations

Washington, DC, Oct. 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Washington, DC non-profit Friendship Place joins countless voices in condemning the violence that took place in Pittsburgh on Saturday.
 
“Friendship Place views an attack on one religion as an attack on all religions, and on caring people everywhere,” says President & CEO Jean-Michel Giraud. “We must come together to ensure that people of all faiths can gather in peace.”

Friendship Place was founded 27 years ago by concerned community members in upper NW, DC, with the support of local congregations of many faiths. These congregations recognized that only by coming together, each member playing its part, would they have the ability to address the growing problem of homelessness in the community. They opened their doors and welcomed people in dire need of a warm, safe place--off the street--to rest at night.
 
Since those early days, Friendship Place has grown to serve more than 3,200 people annually. This year, the organization has ended or prevented homelessness for over 1,300 people.
