Pittsburgh, PA, Dec. 04, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --
TeleTracking, a progressive voice that is leading the movement to transform healthcare with operational command centers designed to improve patient care, is providing the technology platform powering Broward Health’s new Patient Logistics Center. The goal of the Patient Logistics Center is to streamline operations, placing patients at the most appropriate level of care in the least amount of time—subsequently freeing up resources and staff to care for patients.
“Broward Health came to us in 2017 with goals such as reducing patient length of stay and bed turnover time, as well as preventing diversions,” says Joy Avery, TeleTracking’s Vice President, Clinical Strategy. “Now their staff have the ability to see everything in real time so that they can respond accordingly. Their leadership team has embraced our recommendations and they have already seen improved goal metrics.”
The heart of the Patient Logistics Center is powered by TeleTracking’s integrated operational platform that transfers real-time patient information into the network from all access points, including the emergency department, direct admissions and transfers from other hospitals. The technology streamlines and automates a patient’s progression throughout their length of stay, while providing real-time reporting, analytics and dashboards for executives and caregivers to adjust for long-term improvements.
“The Patient Logistics Center makes it possible for us to remove barriers and unlock capacity to create greater healthcare access for our community,” says Alan Goldsmith, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Broward Health. “Hospital staff meet daily, review the scorecard data, and work collaboratively to meet established best practices. Initial data suggests that these changes are having an impact, with decreased wait times from the emergency department and faster physician response times to pages, as well as environmental services turn-around times dropping below the industry best practice of 60 minutes.” Goldsmith says that this greater efficiency has contributed to significant savings from reduced patient length of stays that have contributed to greater capacity for new patients.
“The visibility and shared situational awareness provided by TeleTracking’s real-time data confirms for admitting physicians that patients have the right beds for their conditions and alerts transporters and environmental services when their services are needed,” said Paul Taber, Director of the Broward Health Patient Logistics Center. “This enables us to optimize our resources and improve patient access to care.”
Now that the centralization of Broward Health’s four hospitals is complete, disaster portals will be incorporated in January 2019 into the Patient Logistics Center. These portals will improve Broward Health’s ability to effectively track patients, family members, staff and equipment during a disaster like a hurricane or mass casualty event.

About TeleTracking Technologies, Inc.
For every hour patients wait for care, they face objectively worse outcomes. TeleTracking believes it is unacceptable that patients are not able to access the care they need, when they need it, due to operating inefficiencies and unnecessary cost barriers. Our mission is simple, to ensure no one waits for the care they need. And that’s why more than a decade ago, TeleTracking recognized the significant benefits of a centralized approach to managing patient flow, led the development of the command center concept, and has implemented more than one hundred operational command centers across the United States and United Kingdom. Examples include Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA; Baptist Memorial Health Care in Memphis, TN; UCHealth in Denver, CO; and Sharp HealthCare in San Diego, CA. Named one of Becker's "Great Places to Work" in 2017 and 2018 and a Pittsburgh Business Times “Corporate Citizenship Award” winner, TeleTracking has also delivered extraordinary outcomes for nearly three decades that have been the subject of study by the RAND Corporation, in addition to being a perennial KLAS category Leader.
