KEMP, Texas, Dec. 06, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Larson Electronics, a leader and manufacturer of portable power distribution systems for industrial and commercial markets, announced the release of a temporary power distribution station for Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations. The power distribution unit provides operators in hazardous work sites with a cart-mounted, explosion proof system that can be used to extend and allocate power from a 480V AC power source to operate single-phase 120/240VAC equipment.
The EP-MGS-DC-4X480.30A-10KVA-8X120.20A portable power distribution system features a 25-foot #8/4 Type W line-in cord with a 60-amp 600VAC/250VDC rated, which is used to bring 480V power into the primary side of the station. The primary side a Class I, Division 1 225-amp, 480V three-phase main lug only panel, which contains four 30-amp, 480V, 3-pole breakers protecting four 480V, 30-amp deadfront interlocking explosion proof receptacles and one 30-amp, 2-pole breaker protecting the 10KVA transformer.
The Class I, Division 2 10KVA transformer then converts 480V single phase power to 120/240V single phase and passes the current to the secondary panel. The secondary side feeds a Class I, Division 1 100-amp, 120/240V single phase main lug only panel. This secondary panel contains eight 20-amp, 125V breakers protecting eight 20-amp, 125V, 5-15R / 5-20R explosion proof receptacles, individually protected with GFCI. The secondary receptacles are twist-lock and accept both 5-15P and 5-20P explosion proof plugs. Liquid-tite flexible cord connects the primary panel to the transformer and the transformer to the secondary panel.
The EP-MGS-DC-4X480.30A-10KVA-8X120.20A is equipped with weatherproof covers, which ensures protection from dirt, water and accidental contact in rugged environments. For seamless transportation, the entire unit is mounted on a non-sparking aluminum cube frame with wheels and locking casters. Skid pockets and pick eyes (located at corners of the frame) are available for transportation using cranes, forklifts and other hoisting equipment. This 25 KVA temporary power distribution station is suitable for use in Class I, Division 2 combustible facilities. This includes indoor and outdoor locations such as shipyards, plants and construction worksites.
