Kitchener, Waterloo, March 06, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Global learning technology leader D2L today announced that The National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA) — the oldest wrestling only organization in America — is using D2L to help train thousands of wrestling coaches in schools across the United States.
“We needed a technology platform that's easy to use, that's robust, and can accommodate the vast wrestling coach community that we serve — we’re talking about thousands of programs in communities across the country. That brought us to the front doorstep of D2L,” said Mike Moyer, Executive Director, NWCA. “Just like D2L’s goal is to reach every learner, our goal is to reach every coach. We want them to be great stewards of their programs and provide the ultimate educationally based athletic experience for their wrestlers.”
The NWCA — which is headquartered in Manheim, Pennsylvania — its primary mission is to train middle school, high school, and college wrestling coaches. At the college level, they have been providing coach training since 2009, and at the high school level, since 2017. The courses taught include Leadership, Recruitment, Retention, Health and Safety, Nutrition, and Branding.
The NWCA did a full search and looked at many other platforms. They chose D2L because, in part, they were already familiar with the Brightspace platform through a partnership with Michigan State University. That positive experience with a platform that they had found easy to use and robust — as well as knowing that many universities are already using D2L — tipped the scales in favor of Brightspace. As a result, all NWCA’s course content will be moved over to Brightspace and will be live in Mid-March.
