BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA, April 11, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Innovatrics, a leading provider of multimodal biometric technology, is pleased to announce that the most recent submission of it face recognition algorithm to the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Ongoing FRVT (Face Recognition Vendor Test) garnered the top spot in the wild face dataset, which translates to highly reliable and accurate for use in digital onboarding and in retail, surveillance, and security applications.
The Innovatrics algorithm bested over 100 international entries, further cementing its reputation as a leading provider of face recognition technology in the world.

Deep convolutional neural networks are utilized to constantly enhance the accuracy and efficiency of Innovatrics face recognition algorithms. Through this machine learning approach, faces can be identified and verified even in low-grade conditions.
The wild face dataset corresponds to many real-world use cases of face recognition. It consists of faces extracted from real-world footage, often made in subpar lighting conditions and in different positions, and partially obscured by hair, hands, or objects. The algorithm should be able to deal with such conditions when searching for specific faces in a security camera footage.
The algorithm is adopted in every Innovatrics face recognition solution. It is a core part of the IFace library, which is used in the company’s flagship products: ABIS, SmartFace, and Digital Onboarding Toolkit.
The FRVT is an ongoing test aimed at measurement of the performance of automated face recognition technologies applied to a wide range of civil, law enforcement and homeland security applications submitted by biometric companies from all over the globe. It checks the error rate in verification of different types of images, specifically the inability to recognize a given face on an image.
