LOS ANGELES, April 23, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Innovative Computing Systems, a Los Angeles-based legal technology company celebrating 30 years in business, announces its first annual “Security Summit: The State of Cybersecurity Today and the Law Firm’s Standard of Care,” a webinar that will be hosted on Tuesday, May 7, at 1:00 p.m. CDT. The summit will consist of a panel discussion among law firm IT professionals, attorneys, security professionals and legal technology experts. The 1.5-hour virtual event is free and open to all legal professionals, including attorneys, legal administrators, legal IT teams and other support staff. Registration is ongoing: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_79iBOsTUSmK8O1-7ylk6cg.
The Security Summit event is a result of a known need for cybersecurity education at law firms. Cybersecurity is more than a technology issue or an added clause in the retainer agreement; it is one of the biggest risks that law firms are facing in 2019. Cybersecurity is part of doing business, and pressure from clients is causing firms to invest in and focus more on cybersecurity and the concomitant risk management.
Cyberattacks have become so frequent that it is no longer a matter of whether firms will be the victim of one, but a question of when and to what extent. This is a result of easily accessible malware and increasingly sophisticated cybercriminals. It is not enough to relegate online risk management to the IT department and requires more than general guidelines on computer use. These prevalent threats are changing the way law firms’ entire IT ecosystems, including documents, websites, emails, servers, cloud applications and mobile devices, are managed.
In this webinar, the panel of experts will discuss the current security landscape at law firms and law firms’ responsibility to manage cybersecurity, including risk management, potential future threats and steps firms should take today to ensure the security of their companies’ and clients’ data. The panel will also briefly highlight current security legislation and regulations.
Attendees will learn:
- The state of law firm data security today
- The biggest cybersecurity risks for law firms
- What to do to manage cyberrisk
- How to recognize a cyberthreat
- The lawyer’s cyber standard of care
- The status of increasing client requirements for law firms
Current panelists include:
- David Lam, Citadel Information Group
- Michael Kemps, Innovative Computing Systems
- Debra Gray, Frandzel Robins Bloom & Csato
More panelists will be announced in the coming weeks.
Space is limited at the event, so early registration is encouraged. Registration and additional details can be found at: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_79iBOsTUSmK8O1-7ylk6cg.
