TORONTO, April 23, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- UNITE HERE Local 75 invites media to join the Local and other Canadian labour leaders at a gala event on Wednesday, April 23, 2019 to celebrate the swearing-in of its newly elected leadership.
On March 29, 2019, hospitality workers with UNITE HERE Local 75 elected a new diverse leadership committee, marking the local’s transition out of a 14-month trusteeship and conclusion of attempted, unsuccessful raiding campaign by another union. UNITE HERE Local 75 experienced the highest voter turnout in its history and the new leaders were elected with a decisive 83 percent of the vote. UNITE HERE Local 75 will be joined by hundreds of members and fellow labour movement leaders to celebrate and honour this new era of a leadership that is truly representative of Local 75.
