Bloomington, Ind., April 29, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Solution Tree, an educational publisher and professional development provider, has announced the recipients of the 2019 Rebecca Burnette DuFour Scholarship. This inaugural award honors educators demonstrating exceptional leadership in their school communities.
Many qualified candidates were considered for this special scholarship, which honors Rebecca Burnette DuFour and her legacy of leadership and service in education.

- Jamie East, assistant principal, Princeton Elementary School (Princeton, La.)
- Deborah T. Ellis, assistant principal, Minnieville Elementary School (Woodbridge, Va.)
- Tara Fulton, principal, Gladys Polk Elementary School (Richwood, Tex.)
- Lori Griffin, principal, Ballman Elementary School (Fort Smith, Ark.)
- Alexandra Laing, K–12 STEM instructional specialist, The School District of Palm Beach County (West Palm Beach, Fla.)
- Nancy Luyckfassel, executive staff officer, Alberta Teachers’ Association (Edmonton, Alb., Canada)
- Lindsey Matkin, assistant principal, Preston Middle School (Fort Collins, Colo.)
- Elizabeth Salvato, teacher, Osceola County School District (Kissimmee, Fla.)
Winners of the scholarship will receive a complimentary registration to Solution Tree’s Women in Education: Leading Perspectives Institute on July 8–10 in San Antonio, Tex.; hotel accommodations for three nights; and a $500 travel allowance.
During her nearly four-decade-long career in education, DuFour served as a public-school educator and administrator. She co-authored 16 titles, including the best-selling Learning by Doing: A Handbook for Professional Learning Communities at Work® and wrote numerous articles on the topic of education.
