Looking ahead to “The Next Ten”

OTTAWA, Ontario, May 07, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Food Processing Skills Canada (FPSC), a non-profit organization focused on propelling the Canadian food and beverage processing industry through education and training, celebrates their 10^th Annual Speaking Food Conference at the end of May, 2019.

Being held in Toronto at the Bram & Bluma Appel Salon on May 24^th, this conference is aptly themed, “The Next Ten”, and focuses on the changes coming to the food and beverage processing/manufacturing industry and how far the industry has come.

“We are excited to be in our tenth year of operations to support the development of the industry through upskilling and education,” said Jennefer Griffith, Executive Director of FPSC.

In honour of our tenth year, the conference will host a “Toast to Ten Years” award luncheon. FPSC will recognize the companies and individuals who continue to participate in developing one of the most skilled labour forces in the world, during an ongoing skilled worker shortage.

“In order to meet the increasing high export demand of food globally, Canada needs the skilled individuals to make that happen,” said Griffith.

The food and beverage industry is the largest manufacturing sector in Canada and critical to the Canadian economy, which is why having enough skilled workers is crucial. For reference, in 2016, Canadian food and beverage manufacturing shipments were worth $112.4 billion and accounted for approximately 18% of total Canadian manufacturing. The industry includes over 10,000 companies located in every province and territory in Canada.

Attendees to the 10^th Annual Speaking Food Conference will not only gain insight on where the industry is headed, but will also spend the day connecting with industry leaders while learning how to apply new tactics in their business through a variety of presentations -- including an interactive demonstration.
