Powder Mountain Announces Development Partnership with Meriwether Companies

Eden, UT, Oct. 24, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Following a $100 million investment by new majority owner Reed Hastings, Powder Mountain has chosen leading resort developer, Meriwether Companies, to deliver on a new vision for the Utah mountain resort.

The 10-year development partnership will see Meriwether take Powder Mountain into its next phase, one that stays true to the untracked and uncrowded experience that sets Powder apart from other resorts in the mountain west while building out the infrastructure and amenities befitting a modern world-class destination.

Powder and Meriwether also announced that the remaining lots in the Overlook development have been removed from the market pending the future rollout of a new master plan for the resort.

“In Meriwether we have the ideal partner to deliver the next iteration of Powder Mountain,” said Hastings. “There’s nothing cookie cutter about their process. They have a long track record of delivering unique experiences at the destinations they own and partner with. Most importantly Noah (Hahn) and his partners at Meriwether have an acute understanding of what makes this place special and share our vision to fulfill its promise.”

Meriwether Companies has extensive experience across private clubs and groundbreaking sports and wellness resorts.

“This is one of the most dynamic mountain resort development projects in North America today,” said Hahn. “Opportunities like this, with a resort known among skiers and snowboarders for its incredibly vast and varied terrain and 500” of annual snowfall, don’t come around often. With new leadership in Reed, the resources and vision are now in place to create something that truly stands apart among mountain destinations.”

Current Meriwether projects include: Coral Mountain La Quinta, a 400-acre master-planned property in La Quinta, California, with a proposed David McLay Kidd-designed golf course, best-in-class wellness facilities and a private residential community; Cabo Real Surf Club in Los Cabos, Mexico a resort residential community with an artificial wave basin, golf, beach club and active adventure sports programming; Griffin Club Los Angeles, a Meriwether-developed and managed private sports club in Los Angeles boasting more than 1,500 memberships and four-acres of tennis, swim, fitness and social facilities; Aspen Club, a club and resort project in development in Aspen, Colorado, that will feature hospitality, dining, fitness, health and wellness offerings; and Parlor, a pair of innovative food hall and nightlife concepts in Kansas City and Oklahoma City. The firm’s past work in the mountain west include residential and club assets in Telluride, Breckenridge, and Steamboat, CO; Park City, UT; Tahoe, CA; and Big Sky, MT.
