Atomic Won Alpine Skiing World Cup With An Overall Title


The Racing Team of Atomic, a subsidiary of Amer Group, won three titles and an overall title in the Alpine Skiing World Cup. Hermann Maier was the winner of the overall title with his magical 2000 points. Pepi Strobl ranked third.

A total of five Atomic athletes ranked in the top ten in the Alpine Skiing World Cup: Hermann Maier (1.), Pepi Strobl (3.), Stephan Ebenharter (6.), Christian Mayer (8.), Benjamin Raich (9.).

The season 1999/2000 was a celebration for Hermann Maier. He captured World Cup title in Giant Slalom, Super G and Downhill. Also, Pepi Strobl ranked third in Downhill.

In Bormio, Italy, Atomic's performance was strong. In Giant Slalom it occupied all the top three positions, Benjamin Reich being the winner, Christian Mayer second and Heinz Schilchegger third.

In the competition between ski manufacturers Atomic ranked first, already for the third time in a row (1,535 points). Salomon ranked second (1,338) and Völkl third (807). Atomic was clear number one in both 'Bindings' and 'Men' with its 1,371 points to Salomon's 621.

In the Nordic World Cup Atomic was successful in Ski Jumping as Andreas Widhölzl ranked second and Janne Ahonen third.
