OKLAHOMA CITY, May 17, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- AARO Broadband Wireless Communications, Inc. (OTCBB:AARO), a subsidiary of AAROW Environmental Group, Inc. announced today that its high-speed wireless Internet access is now available to business customers in the greater Oklahoma City and Tulsa metropolitan areas.
AARO Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Mike Erhart said AARO is offering promotional pricing on broadband access during this week's ITEC Oklahoma City technology show through June 30.
According to Erhart, businesses may select access speeds ranging from 2 Mbps (slightly faster than a conventional wired T-1 connection) to 11 Mbps (more than seven times faster than a T-1). Erhart said AARO's access packages are available at a fraction of the cost of traditional, slower wired access. He said the company anticipates having its first billable customer operational by Monday.
"This is just the tip of the iceberg. We've had a tremendous response to our preliminary packages during this week's Oklahoma City trade show. Within the next few weeks, we'll have the equipment and support systems in place to combine the service with productivity-driven applications including voice over IP, video conferencing, video on demand and unified messaging," he said.
"This will be the first time such a unique blend of wireless access and applications has been offered in this area. Businesses were ready for someone to begin offering an alternative to the wired Internet. We are filling that demand," Erhart said
Prior to its merger with AAROW Environmental Group, Inc. the group at AARO had been Beta testing its broadband wireless services in the Oklahoma City area since mid 1999.
A handful of area businesses have volunteered to test the service, Erhart said. He said he's pleased the company is the first in Oklahoma City to offer high-speed wireless connectivity as a reliable alternative to wired access.
"We've already made and corrected the mistakes our competitors are just finding out about. We've already worked out all the bugs. High-speed, reliable connectivity and a focus on customer service are what potential clients will find at AARO," Erhart said.
AARO Broadband Wireless Communications, Inc. provides wireless connectivity up to 100 MBps. AARO New World services such as unified communications, IP telephony and videoconferencing services are delivered via a highly secure, carrier-class IP network.
