IRVINE, Calif., May 30, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- VoIP Telecom, Inc. (OTCBB:VOPT) Tuesday announced that it is in the process of installing Clarent servers in the Asia-Pacific Region as part of an aggressive VoIP deployment program, extending service to several cities in select South and East Asian countries over the next 18 months.

VoIP Telecom plans to have ACCESS build an IP telephony network capable of handling more than 400 million voice minutes annually. VoIP Telecom provides Voice over the Internet Protocol (VoIP) services in fast growth telecommunications markets around the world.

IBC also reported today that Japan-based NTT DoCoMo is negotiating purchase of an equity interest in VoiceStream Wireless (Nasdaq:VSTR). The terms of the deal were not announced yet, but it could total billions, reported The Wall Street Journal.

VoiceStream Wireless Corp., through its subsidiaries, provides personal communications services (PCS) under the VoiceStream brand name in 11 urban markets, including Denver, Seattle/Tacoma, Phoenix/Tucson, Portland, Salt Lake City, Des Moines, Oklahoma City, Honolulu, El Paso, Albuquerque and Boise, and is currently constructing systems in San Antonio and Austin.
