M1 on ensimmäisenä operaattorina Singaporessa soittanut GPRS-datapuhelun verkossaan käyttäen Nokian teknologiaa.
GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) on tärkeä askel kohden seuraavan sukupolven matkapuhelinpalveluita. Pakettivälitteinen GPRS mahdollistaa aina päällä olevan sähköposti-, Internet tai WAP-portaaliyhteyden matkapuhelinverkossa tuoden kuluttajien ulottuville suuren joukon uusia sisältöpalveluita.
Nokia on toimittanut GPRS-verkkojärjestelmiä lähes 40 operaattorille Euroopassa, Aasiassa, USA:ssa ja Kiinassa.
