Don't be bored. Be totally board.

Nokia will host a youth lifestyle event at Europe's biggest and newest commercial and entertainment venue, CentrO, in Oberhausen, Germany on September 2. The event, going under the name "Don't be bored. Be totally board," will feature a variety of youth oriented lifestyle entertainment. For the first time ever, top professionals from numerous board sports will display their skills at the same venue. Snowboarding, wakeboarding, and skateboarding, as well as skiing, BMX and in-line skating will be displayed in various locations interspersed with performing bands, gaming, and fashion. Members of the Nokia Rider team will also be present to demonstrate their skills, as this is the third season that Nokia is sponsoring the FIS Snowboard World Cup. An estimated 100,000 people are expected to visit CentrO during this event which will be televised globally.

"We are very excited about hosting this lifestyle event in Oberhausen, Germany," said Pekka Rantala, Vice President, Marketing Services, Nokia Mobile Phones, Europe & Africa. "Oberhausen's new and modern commercial and entertainment venue is the perfect setting for showcasing sports that embody our values of creativity, freedom, and individuality. Last year's event in Warsaw, Poland to mark the opening of the 1999 snowboarding season was a tremendous success and proved a good way of bringing people together for fun and entertainment around the snowboarding theme. We expect this event to generate the same level of excitement and provide entertainment on an even greater scale."

In just over a decade, snowboarding has become one of the most popular winter sports in the world. And today it is much more than just a sport. It is a lifestyle and has an ambience of its own. The snowboarding culture affects millions of participants and fans, from the clothes they wear to the music they listen to.
