Nokia Networks, the infrastructure arm of Nokia, and Cable & Wireless, the global telecommunications group, today announced the beginning of a co-operation to create a truly global, mobile Internet platform.
Nokia will provide the services platform, innovative applications and systems integration that are compatible with Cable & Wireless’ world-class Internet systems. The platform, hosted by Cable & Wireless, will provide fully managed wireless ASP and Internet services to second and 3rd Generation mobile network operators, Internet service providers, fixed operators and large corporate customers. By using the platform, Cable & Wireless customers will be able to provide access to leading-edge Internet content, information and location-based services, mobile-commerce and business applications via mobile devices.
