This agreement represents an initial but major step into the Asian market and follows Net Insight's strategy to enter new markets by forming long- term alliances with companies that are leaders in these markets. Allied Telesis, headquartered in Tokyo, is a well-established networking vendor in the Japanese market with annual revenues in excess of $200 million. Allied Telesis will sell Net Insight's Nimbra products through its own sales and support organization in Japan. Net Insight will continue to market and sell DTM-protocol software and patent licenses, and its multi-service ASIC, Twintin™ in Japan.
"The addition of Net Insight's DTM solutions to the Allied Telesis product portfolio will provide our customers with an affordable metro WAN networking solution that can handle the IP-centric converged world of data and voice traffic, while providing new real-time revenue-generating services," says Hiroyuki Takagi, President of Allied Telesis.
"The Japanese market is both large and very suitable for Net Insight's multi-service metro area products," says Bengt Olsson, CEO of Net Insight. "This is our first major step into the exploding Asian market, and we now have a strong and committed partner in Japan. Allied Telesis have a well-recognized name for providing high quality, highly reliable, advanced networking systems, which is a key factor for customers in this new market. This agreement further demonstrates that Net Insight's multi-service platforms are winning ground worldwide as an accepted and superior technology for handling real-time voice, video and data services in broadband metro networks."
This sales agreement complements an earlier OEM agreement between Net Insight and the affiliate company of Allied Telesis that manages International sales, Allied Telesyn International Corporation, in which Allied Telesyn will sell the Nimbra Products through its worldwide organization, including its subsidiaries in North America and Europe.
