TOR BERGMAN ELECTED A BOARD MEMBER OF METSO'S BUSINESSES

Tor Bergman, Metso Corporation's President and CEO from January 1, 2001, has been elected a board member of Metso's businesses – fiber and paper technology (Valmet Corporation), automation and control technology (Neles Automation Inc) and machinery - from September 1, 2000. In the machinery business area, he was also elected a board member of the rock and mineral processing (Nordberg Group Oy) and the manufacture of specialty cars (Valmet Automotive Inc) from the same date. Heikki Hakala, Metso Corporation's present President and CEO, continues as chairman of the boards mentioned above.
