Intentia and Elkem Sign Agreement to Implement Movex

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 5, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- Intentia International AB (publ). (XSSE:INTB) has signed an agreement with Elkem ASA to implement Movex in all of Elkem's 30 divisions. Initially, the project will focus on the logistics processes between Elkem's production units and its customers. Elkem's ambition is that Movex will then be available for implementation in the company's wholly and partly owned subsidiaries around the world. When completed, in approximately two to three years, Movex will represent a significant portion of Elkem's business systems. This represents one of Intentia's largest contracts to date.

Elkem, one of the world's largest manufacturers of metals and other materials in its industry, is now in the process of gradually carrying out preliminary projects for a number of business and work processes. Movex is being implemented as the solution for the logisitics processes from the production units to customers. "We are very pleased with the great confidence that Elkem has demonstrate in us, especially in light of the tough competition we faced against other leading suppliers," says Markus Jakobson, Managing Director, Intentia Sverige/Norge. "This contract is additional evidence of Intentia's very strong competitive power and that we have the capacity to handle very large and complex implementations."

"With Intentia's help we are going to develop and improve the strategic business processes throughout the company," explains Espen Falla, Director, Shared Services, Elkem ASA. "One of the reasons we selected Intentia is that they can deliver a component-based, modern integrated solution which includes support for processes such as production planning, order management, distribution and logistics, all integrated with a complete e-business solution. In addition, Intentia has a consultancy organization that can effectively manage the actual implementation."

The concept that Elkem has decided to implement focuses specifically on Intentia's e-business solutions, which ensures that Elkem will have access to the latest technology for Internet-based business processes. This deal is expected to have a gradual positive impact on Intentia's revenue beginning in the fourth quarter of this year.
