Jaakko Pöyry Group to provide engineering and project services for Hartwall's Lahti project

JP-Engineering Oy, which is a member of the Jaakko Pöyry Group, has been commissioned by Oyj Hartwall Abp to provide complete engineering services for relocation of the bottling and sorting functions of Hartwall’s brewery in Lahti, including plant engineering and civil construction design. Participants in the project, in addition to JP-Engineering Oy, include several Jaakko Pöyry Group companies in Finland. The value of the engineering and project services contract is about EUR 6.5 million.

Hartwall intends to concentrate its production and warehousing operations in southern Finland in the logistics centre at Lahti. The project includes, apart from bottling and sorting systems, the brewery’s energy supply and preparations for implementation of subsequent project phases, such as beverage production. The project will be completed in the spring of 2002.

Particular attention will be paid to the possibilities for modification and expansion of the future production and distribution centre. Special emphasis will be given to the functionality of internal logistics systems, production hygiene and convertibility for variations in product mix and volume. Technical design solutions will be aimed at progressive and reliable systems while minimising operating costs. The overall energy economy of the production and distribution centre will be designed to achieve major savings compared with the present situation.
