Nokia and M1 in Singapore have signed an agreement, valued at approximately USD 40 million, which will see the expansion and upgrade of the M1 GSM Smart Dualband network.
Nokia has been supporting M1 at every stage of its network evolution since its service launch in 1997. With this latest commitment, M1 will have invested over USD 260 million in its mobile network.
"This latest agreement with Nokia means that M1 can continue to provide its customers with the most competitive and advanced services, as well as meeting the increasing demands for more capacity," said Neil Montefiore, Chief Executive Officer of M1.
Under the contract, Nokia will supply a complete range of mobile network solution, including the world's most powerful mobile switch -The Nokia (MSCi) and High Capacity Base Station Controller (BSCi). Also included will be the Nokia InSite base station solution for superior indoor network coverage and the Nokia MetroSite base station solution providing high-capacity for hotspots and designed to significantly cut operators' total network costs.
