Nokia Redefines an Icon with the Introduction of the Newly Updated Nokia 5165 Wireless Phone

With a bold new look and the inclusion of exciting new features, Nokia today unveiled the new Nokia 5165 wireless phone, now shipping to customers. While not ignoring the heritage of the wildly popular Nokia 5100 Series, the tri-mode (TDMA 800/1900/AMPS) time division multiple access (TDMA) Nokia 5165 makes a statement with edgy new styling and new functionality including two-way mobile messaging and predictive text input.

Along with the restyled design comes a palette of fresh new colors that complement the lines of the Nokia 5165. New Xpress-on (TM) color cover options include Yellow Spin, Red Dazzle, Green Gleam, Blue Indigo, Gold Tone, Glacier White, Bronze Armor, Blue Sea Spray, and Turning Pink.

"Successfully updating a product as popular as the Nokia 5100 Series can be extremely challenging," said Debra Kennedy, Director of Consumer and Brand Marketing for Nokia. "However, the new Nokia 5165 offers a familiar, yet surprisingly fresh image. In addition, the new range of covers gives Nokia customers the freedom to personalize their phone with the latest colors."

By combining two-way mobile messaging and predictive text input in the Nokia 5165, easy-to-use text communication is placed into the palm of the user's hand. Mobile messaging allows Nokia 5165 customers to send text messages from their phones to other mobile messaging enabled handsets, or to e-mail addresses if the carrier network supports mobile messaging. Predictive text input makes this task almost as easy as typing on a full keyboard. With a dictionary of more than 60,000 words, the Nokia 5165 "predicts" the word that you are typing, which can reduce the number of keystrokes needed by over two-thirds.

To allow for maximum personalization of the Nokia 5165, users can choose from not only the new range of nine Xpress-on Color Covers, but from the wide range of existing solid and graphic design 5100 Series Xpress-on Color Covers currently on the market. To gain the ability to use the current range of covers, 5165 owners need only to purchase a new keymat accessory to make the transition possible.

Nokia 5165 users can choose from a complete line of Nokia Original Accessories such products as compact desktop charging stands, complete car kits and a wide variety of batteries. Also, current Nokia 5100 Series users wishing to switch to the Nokia 5165 will find that all of their Nokia Original Accessories are fully compatible with the Nokia 5165.
