Nokia to participate in Paris Fashion Week

Nokia will again participate in Paris Fashion Week this year. This is the second year of Nokia's involvement in this fashion event. Last year, Nokia launched the Nokia 8210 fashion phone at the 30th anniversary celebration of Kenzo design in Paris, and thus introduced a fashion range in the world of mobile phones. Once again this season, Nokia is expanding its involvement in fashion, creating links between its inhouse industrial creation studios and those of the fashion designers.

The south gallery of the Petit-Palais will be the site of the Nokia Fashion Hall from October 6-14, 2000. A Nokia design event will be held there on October 6, hosted by Nokia's Chief Designer, Frank Nuovo. The Nokia Fashion Hall will also be available throughout Fashion Week for young designers to present their collections free of charge. Some of the designers who will be appearing are Gilles Rosier, José Enrique Ona Selsa, André Walker, Gaspard Yurkievich, Sharon Wauchob, Icarius, Dorothée Perret, Kostas Murkudis, and Alexandre Herchcovitch.

"We are very happy to again participate in Paris Fashion Week. Our experience last year was very positive, and we intend to continue our involvement in various lifestyle related events and activities. The success of our fashion category has proved that in today's world, mobile phones are much more than communication tools only: they are accessories that enhance the lifestyles and express the tastes and personalities of individuals everywhere," said Pekka Rantala, Vice President, Marketing Services, Nokia Mobile Phones, Europe and Africa.

Nokia is paving the way to the Mobile Information Society with its innovative products and solutions. The company is the leading mobile phone supplier and a leading supplier of mobile, fixed and IP networks, related services as well as multimedia terminals. In 1999, Nokia's net sales totaled EUR 19.8 billion (USD 19.9 billion). Headquartered in Finland, Nokia is listed on the New York (NOK), Helsinki, Stockholm, London, Frankfurt and Paris stock exchanges and employs more than 60 000 people.
