DALLAS, Tex., Sept. 20, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Integrated Systems Sector (ISS) today announced the appointment of Diego A. Ruiz Palmer to international vice president-Central and Southern Europe.
Mr. Ruiz Palmer's responsibilities include strengthening key customer relationships and overseeing business development opportunities in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). He will be working with the ISS European team in Brussels, Belgium, which is headed by Tom Darcy, vice president-European Region.
Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Mr. Ruiz Palmer led the Planning and Policy Section in the Defense Support Division of the NATO International Staff and served as senior advisor to the NATO assistant secretary general for defense support on NATO's armaments policy and long-term planning of cooperative programs under the Conference of National Armaments Directors.
He also served from 1997 to 1999 as head of the NATO Armaments Review Task Force, aimed at reforming armaments cooperation processes, and as chairman of the review's civil and military working groups.
From 1991 to 1997, Mr. Ruiz Palmer led the Armaments Planning Section, responsible for the harmonization of the defense procurement plans of the Alliance member nations.
Mr. Ruiz Palmer received his Bachelor of Arts in political science from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris and his Master of Arts in security policy studies from The George Washington University. He is a graduate of the John F. Kennedy School of Government's program at Harvard University for senior executives in national and international security.
He has published more than 30 articles on U.S. defense policy and NATO defense planning. In addition, he has been a guest speaker and lecturer at international conferences and war colleges in the United States and Europe.
