Messages and clues will reach the player via every imaginable medium, such as the Internet, TV, radio, voicemail, SMS, magazines and newspapers. The player’s job is to follow the leads and stay connected by visiting the game website. The Nokia Game will keep players busy for a month - that is, if they make it through all the stages.
The Nokia Game proceeds from one stage to another, from one puzzle to another. Stage by stage the masterminds are singled out, until there is one winner in each country. The winners will receive a fabulous prize trip to the MTV Europe Snowball event, in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy, in January 2001.
There is no participation fee to the Nokia Game. To play the game, participants will need access to the Internet, an e-mail address, and a mobile phone with the capacity to receive short messages. There is no age limit to play the game, but people under the age of 18 need their guardian's permission to participate.
Players can register at www.nokiagame.com between October 7-30. Game developments can also be followed on this site.
"We hope that the Nokia Game will be this year's ultimate entertainment experience. We believe in the power of connecting people – whether by phone or other media. This time we're doing that via a fictional story. Last year's Nokia Game, which was played exclusively in the Netherlands proved to be tremendously popular, convincing us that this was something we wanted to include more people in. This year we are offering this unique experience in 18 countries across Europe," said Pekka Rantala, Vice President Marketing Services, Europe & Africa.
Nokia is paving the way to the mobile information society with its innovative products and solutions. The company is the leading mobile phone supplier and a leading supplier of mobile, broadband and IP networks, related services as well as multimedia terminals. In 1999, Nokia's net sales totaled EUR 19.8 billion (USD 19.9 billion). Headquartered in Finland, Nokia is listed on the New York (NOK), Helsinki, Stockholm, London, Frankfurt and Paris stock exchanges and employs more than 60 000 people.
