F.L.Smidth & Co. and Fuller Company to merge into the new F.L.Smidth

Responding to the needs of their industry and customers, F.L.Smidth & Co. and Fuller Company today announced that they will merge into one global organisation called F.L.Smidth effective as at January 1, 2001.

The new logotype and global management structure have also been released and are attached to this message. The new F.L.Smidth is part of the FLS Group.

By joining forces the new global organisation will be able to provide a number of customer benefits:


  • A sharpened customer focus and higher levels of customer service.


  • Improved after-market services.


  • Truly global coverage, with presence virtually anywhere and availability around the clock.


  • A strengthened portfolio of products and services.


    In addition, the new F.L.Smidth will leverage its purchasing power by coordinating all procurement globally and improve efficiency by streamlining the organisation and operations. Management reaffirms its previous announcement that the combined effect of these measures will materialise in the form of savings of not less than DKK 100 million annually.


    Day-to-day activities will continue to take place at the existing centres in Copenhagen, Denmark, in Bethlehem, Pa., USA, and in Chennai, India. The equipment will continue to be marketed and sold under the existing Fuller and F.L.Smidth trademarks.


    Frank Gad will head the new organisation as CEO. He is currently head of the FFE (F.L.Smidth-Fuller Engineering) Group. Joining him in the Executive Management will be Søren Iversen, COO, Christian Jepsen, CFO, and Erik Oppelstrup Madsen, Executive Vice President. They all come from previous executive positions within the F.L.Smidth and Fuller organisations.


    The remaining FFE Group companies will continue unchanged as wholly-owned subsidiaries of the new F.L.Smidth.
