OSLO, Norway, Jan. 24, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nextra, Telenor's (Nasdaq:TELN) Internet subsidiary, today presented its new mobile Internet concept for the business market. The launch marks an important step towards realization of the company's CSP-strategy.
Nextra's move into the realm of mobile Internet, marks the addition of an important element to the company's portfolio of communications services. This new mobile Internet concept offers an integrated subscription for mobile internet access and mobile telephony. The solution, called Nextra Active, allows businesses to create a mobile working environment for their employees in a simple and cost-effective manner.
Nextra Active enables employees to access e-mail, SMS and fax, as well as the company's Internet-based solutions, regardless of where they are working. With this new application, the company's administrator will be provided with a better overview of the entire portfolio of subscriptions and services delivered by Nextra, as well as a tool for easy ordering and termination.
"This is a considerable step for us at Nextra," said Sveinung Hole, managing director of Nextra Norway. "We see availability and mobility as a key factor for Norwegian companies and their employees. We have therefore developed solutions that enable workers to do their job, wherever they are. This strategic focus represents a both natural and necessary step in the direction of becoming a Communication Service Provider (CSP)."
Nextra Active enables users to leverage several channels for mobile working, such as laptop and handheld computers (PDA), stationary PCs and WAP. This new mobile solution represents the completion of Nextra's existing portfolio of products and services, which already includes access, messaging, hosting and private network (VPN).
