COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Feb. 13, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- TDC Internet (NYSE:TLD) has agreed to acquire 51% of 6 Polish Internet Service companies from Softbank - a leading Polish Software and IT integration company. The purchase price is EURO 23m (DKK 171m) cash.
The companies provide Internet access, hosting and portal services to the entire Polish market. Business customers within the private and public sector dominate the customer base.
The Polish acquisition is an important step for TDC Internet towards becoming a key player in Central and Eastern Europe. The Polish Internet market holds significant growth potential and by entering the Polish Internet market now TDC Internet secures a strong position prior to deregulation of the Polish communications market planned for January 1, 2003.
The acquisition offers a very attractive business opportunity for TDC Internet and in addition significant synergies can be achieved for TDC Internet and TDC's corporate customers with Polish activities.
In 2000, the 6 companies had preliminary revenues of PLZ 33m (DKK 65m).
