Nokia Opens the First 3G Applications Centre in Hong Kong


Nokia announced today the opening of the first 3G Applications Centre in Hong Kong. The 3G Applications Centre in Hong Kong has been established to support local industry in fostering early and rapid development of end-to-end mobile multimedia applications.

This initiative is part of Nokia's overall activities in stimulating the creation of new mobile applications, and in working closely with major industry players, such as the mobile network operators and service providers.

A fully-fledged test and development facilities are available including various platform architectures and enabling technologies on Mobile e-Commerce, Location Services, Mobile Messaging, Mobile Entertainment, Mobile Internet and Billing Solution with open protocols and application interfaces. Mobile testing environments for 3G, GPRS, TETRA and Broadband Systems are equipped to provide completely live working conditions. In addition, the Centre will be linked up with other Nokia applications centres for the sharing of application technology and know-how.

In relation to the 3G Applications Centre, Nokia promotes Nokia Developer NetPoint, accessible via Forum Nokia, www.forum.nokia.com. Nokia Developer NetPoint is a developer alliance targeted at application developers, content providers and content facilitators who are looking for business-to-business opportunities especially with operators and service providers with and through Nokia. Developer NetPoint members are offered early access to Nokia's Mobile Internet solutions. New application development environments, tools and support will be provided with possibilities for marketing and business services.
