eBidenergy.com Enables Customized Energy Procurement With Launch of RFP Platform

ASP to Deliver RFP Platform as Part of Its EnTreX Energy Trade Exchange, Offering Both RFP and Bid-Based Platforms for Energy Procurement

ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 16, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- eBidenergy.com, an application service provider (ASP) of online energy services, announced today that it has launched its Web-based RFP (Request for Proposal) platform as a part of its EnTreX(tm) services.

eBidenergy.com is the first ASP to deliver both an RFP and bid-based platform for energy procurement -- a service called EnTreX(tm). It allows users to choose the platform that best suits their requirements. The Bid Desk is commonly used to procure energy for one location, while the new RFP Desk is used for aggregators and buyers of energy with multiple locations and custom pricing requirements.

The RFP Desk can be used by buyers when they have to manage several accounts and want to post a single aggregate RFP, or by generators, who have excess capacity they want suppliers to bid on. It allows the buyer to include multiple locations on the RFP, non-standard terms and conditions, and requests to the supplier to provide custom pricing alternatives. The RFP platform also offers convenience to the buyer, since the RFP Desk can include databases and spreadsheets that contain account information in a readable format for suppliers to review.

Energy suppliers can browse the RFP Desk and view summaries of each customer that has posted energy information. They can then post a response, alternate value propositions or e-mail questions regarding the RFP directly to the customer. Examples of suppliers currently participating in the EnTreX(tm) platform include ConEdison Solutions, Conoco, Midcoast Energy Services Inc., Nordic Electric, LLC, Seminole Electric Cooperative, UtiliCorp United, Aquila Energy, Perry Gas Companies, Inc., Mirabito Fuel Group, Summit Natural Gas & Power, and Advantage Energy.

"The RFP Desk on EnTreX(tm) allows energy buyers and suppliers to communicate directly with each other for one-on-one negotiations of RFP terms and conditions," said John Howell, executive vice president of eBidenergy.com. "By offering both RFP and Bid-based platforms, we are giving our suppliers access to a much more diverse client base."

Howell added, "Our ongoing objective is to create a premier site for the retail energy market -- not only for buying and selling energy, but also for managing energy information. The launch of the RFP desk takes us one step closer to meeting our goal, as well as the needs of our clients."
