Nokia to supply advanced 3G network solution to Finnish operator Radiolinja


Nokia is to deliver its advanced 3G network solution to Radiolinja, a leading Finnish mobile operator. Under the agreement, Nokia will supply the 3G IP mobility core network, including packet switched and circuit switched elements and related support services. Nokia will also be the major supplier of the 3G WCDMA Radio Access Network (RAN), including base stations, which will enable Radiolinja to offer cutting edge mobile Internet services to its 1.2 million subscribers.

In addition Nokia will provide a full range of related support services to Radiolinja. Deliveries of the start-up network have already started.

Nokia and Radiolinja are closely cooperating on the development of mobile Internet services for the next generation network. This cooperation covers mobile entertainment, multimedia messaging, location-based services and mobile commerce. The future 3G services will be built on Radiolinja's GPRS network, also supplied by Nokia.

Nokia's 3G infrastructure is based on open standards, platforms and interfaces, critical for a smooth evolution to commercial 3G services in a multi-vendor network. It includes integrated end-to-end solutions covering charging, security, network management and service control applications.

Nokia already offers a full range of support services and solutions to help network providers differentiate in today's fast-changing business environment and rapidly build out 3G networks.
