Northrop Grumman Contributes $1.6 Million to Southern California Charities


LOS ANGELES, April 27, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nonprofit organizations serving virtually every segment of the Southern California community were awarded grants today totaling more than $1.6 million by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) at its 10th annual Community Service Grants luncheon.

During the event, 128 local organizations were presented with grants totaling $1,650,000 as part of the company's commitment of more than $5.6 million to charities and other nonprofit groups throughout the country in 2001. Northrop Grumman's corporate headquarters and the United Way of Greater Los Angeles presented the awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

"We have a strong commitment to improve the quality of life in the communities where our employees live and work," said Sandra Evers-Manly, Northrop Grumman's director of Workforce Diversity, EEO Programs and Contributions. "The organizations we honor today are striving to meet the challenges facing our diverse communities. We support their innovative programs so that they can continue to make valued contributions and help build a brighter future for everyone."

Northrop Grumman's community service program focuses on organizations that address the needs of youth, health services, precollege education, career and employment counseling, human services and environmental, civic and cultural organizations.

Northrop Grumman has been committed to supporting the Southern California community for more than 60 years as part of its nationwide social responsibility program. Other Northrop Grumman entities also provide grants in their respective communities across the country.

The annual grants reception brings together the company's nonprofit community partners and provides a forum for new relationships to be formed that can lead to more innovation in community service. During the event, the company also recognized individual employees for their volunteerism with additional grants awarded to the nonprofit organizations that they serve.
