FeatureXpress: Bride, Beauty and Fashion - Photos Taken by Wedding Guests can Become Framed Artwork on Canvas; Digital Art Boutique Offers New Solution for Piles of Disposable Camera Shots

LOS ANGELES, May 21, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- (WITH PACKAGE) Wedding snapshots, especially those taken by guests using disposable cameras, can now be displayed and enjoyed in heart-shaped paintings on canvas or semi-gloss poster paper created by a digital art boutique, www.photowow.com.

Paintings or posters can be created from any number of photos in finished sizes ranging from 12" X 12" to 40" X 40", according to photowow.com founder Robert Schiff. The personal pieces of artwork are then custom framed and ready to hang in any room to beautify the home and honor special wedding memories.

"We call it photowow because everyone says 'Wow' when they see art created from their own photographs," says Schiff, a former Florida attorney who moved to California three years ago in search of a more creative career.

Personalized heart-shaped collages can be ordered at www.photowow.com and are shipped within two weeks of receipt of the photos. Customers proof and approve pieces on-line before they are printed and framed.

"Our graphic artists can use any background color or even a favorite print, like a floral pattern, behind the collage. We also incorporate memorabilia that can be scanned such as invitations, napkins, notes or letters, and place cards," says Schiff.

Because photowow's artwork is created on a digital palette, less-than-perfect photos can be lightened, color-corrected, or cropped. All original photos and memorabilia are returned unharmed.

In addition to the heart-shaped piece, photowow's two Southern California retail stores and Web site offer more than 30 other designs developed by the company's graphic artists. Any design, including Warhol-style pop art, comic-style images and a variety of collages, can be applied to any customer photograph(s).

photowow.com can also transfer photos or personalized designs onto 16 other products such as sign-in boards, place cards and labels for champagne bottles.

A heart-shaped collage created from wedding snapshots costs $6 per photo, plus printing and framing, which varies depending on size, material and frame choice. An 18" X 18" heart-shaped collage on canvas created from 20 photos with a small black frame would run $254 (design: $120, canvas print: $72, frame: $62).
