Nokia Tradepoint - business-to business trading channel for mobile services

Nokia will open a new marketing and business-to-business channel - Nokia Tradepoint - to boost the mobile application and content business between application developers and services providers.

Application and content developers will be able to offer their solutions over a wide market area and direct connection to their target customers. Nokia Tradepoint will open up global markets for developers cost-efficiently by speeding up the delivery process.

Nokia Tradepoint will allow service providers and operators to search and purchase new mobile applications that meet their business and customer demands. Service providers will be able to browse application catalogues and product demonstrations, have access to comprehensive technical descriptions and requirements, product information and order products on-line. The product will be delivered to the service provider from an application vendor for instance on a CD-ROM or by downloading the application from a web address.

"The e-marketplace will be an ideal distribution channel for mobile Internet applications and content, increasing the speed of implementing new services in mobile portals," says Timo Rastas, Head of Mobile Applications and Content, Nokia Networks, "Nokia Tradepoint represents a true win-win solution for developers and service providers. Developers will gain direct reach with professional buyers and service providers will have access to a rich selection of high-quality services and applications."

Nokia Tradepoint will be a natural extension of other Nokia developer activities. Nokia is hosting the world's largest mobile developer community, Forum Nokia, www.forum.nokia.com, which is the on-line community for third party developers creating mobile applications. The Forum Nokia site was established in 1995 and has currently over 400,000 members.

Nokia is the world leader in mobile communications. Backed by its experience, innovation, user-friendliness and secure solutions, the company has become the leading supplier of mobile phones and a leading supplier of mobile, fixed and IP networks. By adding mobility to the Internet Nokia creates new opportunities for companies and further enriches the daily lives of people. Nokia is a broadly held company with listings on six major exchanges.
