Nokia signs contract worth over USD40m to expand M1's GSM network in Singapore


M1 has signed a contract with Nokia that is worth more than USD40 million as part of its regular programme to expand and upgrade the GSM Smart Dualband network in Singapore.

Under the agreement, Nokia will supply and install a full range of telecommunications equipment including Mobile Switching Centers, Home Location Registers, Transit Switching layer, Base Stations and Base Station Controllers.

Nokia will also provide its UltraSite base station solution which caters to the increasing demand for higher voice and data traffic in today's mobile networks and the evolution to the mobile Internet era in Singapore. An industry-leading product, the Nokia UltraSite will support GSM, GPRS, EDGE and WCDMA for 3G technologies.

Nokia Professional Services will also provide implementation services and Connecting@Care support to help maximise M1's operating efficiency and add value to its business.
