Kemira Agro will improve the efficiency and profitability of Kemira Agro Danmark by investing 1.6 MEUR in the automation system of the specialty product unit and by closing 250 kt/a of fertiliser granulation capacity. Resulting annual cost savings will be 6.3 MEUR from 2002 onwards.
Furthermore Kemira Agro Oy, Finland and JSC Acron, Russia have signed a long term marketing agreement. The companies have earlier signed an agreement to covers the marketing co-operation in the Baltic countries. The new agreement will cover co-operation in Kemira Agro's markets globally.
With the above mentioned actions, Kemira Agro will improve its competitiveness in export markets that have been sourced from Denmark. The reduction in production for export will be mainly covered by the signed marketing agreement and in part by deliveries from other Kemira Agro sites.
Kemira Agro Oy is one of Europe's largest producers of specialty fertilisers for agriculture and horticulture, the net sales in 2000 totalling EUR 1,116 million and with a staff of 2,833.
JSC Acron is the largest producer of nitrogen and NPK fertilisers in Russia.
