Nokia provides DSL access network for Celox in Germany

On June 11th the new German DSL Internet Service Provider Celox went live with networking technology from Nokia. A total of 38 small and medium-sized towns are to be linked across Germany by the company's network.

Nokia will provide Celox with a turnkey DSL access network for up to 250 nodes throughout Germany. The equipment includes CPE (customer premises equipment) terminals on the customer side, and infrastructure elements that support data transmission rates of up to 2.3 Mbit/s through SHDSL (Single Line High-Speed DSL) technology on the network side.

In addition to providing the infrastructure, Nokia is also responsible for the complete set-up, technical launch and subsequent maintenance of the network.

The company is located in Bonn, Germany, with Deutsche Bank being one of its shareholders through its subsidiary DB Industrial Holdings. As a DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) access service provider, Celox is primarily addressing business customers wishing to use broadband network access in locations with populations between 50,000 and 200,000 inhabitants. It is precisely in these German locations that DSL solutions have yet to be made available to companies at attractive rates and conditions.

As a network provider, Celox is addressing in particular the needs of small- and medium-sized businesses in 38 German towns and cities by providing access at 33 times the speed of ISDN.

Celox launched the first network access on June 11th in Regensburg, and will begin launching further locations one after the other straight away. Next locations to be to be supplied with access to the Celox net will be Koblenz and Hildeheim.

"We have chosen Nokia as our System supplier for a number of reasons", says Stefan Sattler, managing director of Celox. "Nokia unquestionably is a leader in DSL technology. The technology that Nokia offered ideally fits our innovative network concept. Our cooperation to date has shown that our decision was the correct path to choose: Customer care by Nokia is characterized by a high degree of reliability and a highly professional approach."
