VANCOUVER, British Columbia, August 6, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Pervasys (PINK SHEETS:PVYS), through Brian Sammartino, Chairman and President of Pervasys (Canada), Ltd., announced that the "Dark Angel" television series from Fox Television (NYSE:FOX), presently filming at Lions' Gate Studios in North Vancouver, British Columbia, successfully tested two of Pervasys' streaming video broadcast units for remote viewing before its hiatus, and has now purchased a permanent remote viewing unit. Fox's "Dark Angel" stars Jessica Alba and is executive-produced by James Cameron. Attracted by Pervasys' concepts for Convergence Studios, the set decoration department of "Dark Angel" has installed its first FeLIX streaming video units. "Dark Angel" will use the "preview camera' version of the FeLIX in its set decoration department, allowing the Los Angeles production offices to view plans before they are implemented on the actual sound stage. Two demonstration units were used on "Dark Angel" at the end of last season. Coming back from hiatus, the Set Decoration department placed its first formal order from Pervasys, with plans to use the video streaming server in "video, phone booths, desk top phones, and future inventions and computer screens."
According to set decorator, Tedd Kuchura, "It's always cheaper to do things right the first time. Obviously, it's better if everybody can see the sets at the design phase, when it's much easier and cheaper to revise them. Using the Pervasys technology for videoconference meetings, we can put our plans and sketches on the wall, point the preview camera at them, and get feedback from everybody in the creative loop. The further you progress along the path from idea to physical implementation, the harder and more expensive it becomes to change your mind or correct mistakes. It's much more complicated to rebuild sets than it is to redraw plans. All design elements from design and construction to set dressing and props can be viewed by the entire production before they are committed to film. It's obviously much easier to rebuild sets than it is to re-shoot footage on improperly designed or implemented sets."
"Dark Angel" is about "Max", a genetically enhanced human prototype with attitude to spare. The show's main story lines include a heavy reliance on streaming video, and this led Kuchura to look to implement the show's creative device as a functional technology to improve the show's operational side. Kuchura added, "We felt that Pervasys would be an ideal vendor for streaming video, because of the multimedia orientation of their Vancouver presence. Their heavy involvement in the Hollywood community, their Lone Star affiliation, Convergence Studio concepts, and direct involvement in the production and digital distribution of entertainment content over the last 5 years, were all critical factors in our choice, besides, the use of streaming video internally was a natural for the show."

Pervasys is beginning to market the Convergence Studio adapted by Lone Star Studios and "Dark Angel" to other film studios throughout the film, television and music studio environments.
