Logicon Opens New Building in Colorado to House National Customer Service Center

LAFAYETTE, Colo. Aug. 17, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) company, officially opened a new facility here today to house a national customer service center for its growing commercial information technology (IT) business.

Colorado Gov. Bill Owens was the featured speaker at ceremonies that formally opened the 48,400 square-foot building. Also speaking at the event were Sue Klempan, Mayor of Lafayette; Herb Anderson, Logicon president and chief executive officer; Hugh Taylor, president, Logicon Commercial Information Services (LCIS); and Joseph Mulderig, former president, LCIS.

"When we created the Office of Innovation and Technology in 1999, part of its mission was to attract quality jobs in technology industries and to ensure that Colorado residents are the most sought-after workforce in the world," said Gov. Owens. "Logicon's decision to open this new facility and expand its presence in the state is just the latest example of our success in fulfilling this mission."

The Lafayette customer service center will be used by Logicon as part of its remote customer support network. This work includes dispatch, help desk, network monitoring, and tier 3 hardware and software technical support.

"Logicon's commercial IT business has been growing at a double digit pace and now exceeds $155 million in annual sales," said Mr. Anderson. "The opening of this advanced facility is further evidence of our commitment to the commercial market."

"This center currently handles more than 35,000 customer service calls per month and each call, from the routine to the complex, is an opportunity for our employees to demonstrate their in-depth technical expertise and customer-focused style," said Mr.Taylor. "Our 28-year track record shows that we are among the industry leaders in the commercial IT services. The Lafayette center will facilitate our future growth and enable us to maintain our high level of customer service."

Initially, approximately 100 employees will occupy the Lafayette building, which has a capacity of 250 employees. In addition, the center can process more than 100,000 customer service calls monthly, when operating at full capacity.

In addition to its commercial business, Logicon, a $4 billion sector of Northrop Grumman Corporation, is a leading provider of IT services to the federal government. Some of this work, primarily with the Department of Defense, is performed in Colorado where Logicon has more than 600 employees statewide.

The Lafayette customer service center is part of a 1.6 million square-foot corporate campus being developed by the Etkin Johnson Group of Denver. The campus plan includes a full complement of amenities, an on-site fitness center and state-of-the-art infrastructure, including fiber-optic capabilities for advanced computing, teleconferencing and video conferencing.
