SCOR Group Appointments


PARIS, Sept. 11, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Following the acquisition of Sorema, SCOR Group is announcing the following appointments:

Benedict Ho, appointed Senior Vice President of the Group Risk Management and Control Department:

With a Master degree in Engineering from the University of Manchester and a MBA degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Benedict Ho, 48, joined SCOR Group in 1978. In 1989, he was appointed General Manager of SCOR Asia in Hong Kong and Chief Underwriting Officer for the Asian markets. In 1995, he was appointed Managing Director of SCOR Asia Pacific in Singapore and Chief Operating Officer of the Group operations for Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Patrice Theret, appointed Regional Managing Director of SCOR Asia-Pacific:

After a career as an officer in the Merchant Navy, Patrice Theret, 57, started a career in the Insurance Industry when he joined Les Mutuelles du Mans in 1976. From 1991 to 1998, he assumed the position of Manager of the Asia-Pacific area. Since 1998, he had been Managing Director of Sorema's branch in Singapore.

Patrick Barrault, appointed Manager of the Group Credit and Surety Department:

Graduate of l'Institut Commercial Superieur (Business Institute), Patrick Barrault, 47, started his career as underwriter in direct Credit & Surety insurance in GIPAC. In 1986, he joined the Dow Chemical Company as Managing Director of the Credit Department. In 1991, he joined Sorema where he was appointed Managing Director of the Credit & Surety Department before being upgraded to Managing Director of Treaties on March 2000.

Etienne Leroy, appointed Vice President of the Group Communications Department:

Graduate of Essec and le Centre des Hautes Etudes d'Assurances, Etienne Leroy, 57, started his career in primary insurance. He joined SCOR in 1993 as Marketing Manager and was named Manager of SCOR Group's Credit & Surety Department in 1997.

Dominique Fort, appointed Vice President of the Northern Markets of the Group Property & Casualty reinsurance, new department covering Switzerland, Benelux, Scandinavia and Finland:

From an engineering background, Dominique Fort, 46, began his career as an Underwriter of Large Corporate Accounts at Factory Mutual International. In 1987, he joined UAP Re where he was appointed Executive Vice President of the Facultative Reinsurance Department. In 1989, he joined Sorema as Executive Vice President of the Facultative Reinsurance Department, then Managing Director of the Property & Casualty branch and finally Managing Director of Central European Markets.
