Nokia launches NetAct (TM) Traffica for GPRS, for real-time monitoring of GPRS networks

Nokia today launched a new, versatile network monitoring tool that allows operators to view the performance of GPRS packet-switched core networks in delivering service to end-users. Designed to facilitate real-time monitoring, fast problem-correction and effective troubleshooting, Nokia NetAct (TM) Traffica for GPRS also interworks effectively with the operator's operations support systems.

Concrete benefits of this dynamic monitoring tool include: the real-time viewing of GPRS network usage, the ability to differentiate services and gain full revenue potential and faster response times to customer complaints.

"Nokia NetAct Traffica for GPRS takes real-time monitoring to a whole new level," said Jorma Häkkinen, Vice President and General Manager, IP Mobility Networks, Operations Support Systems, Nokia Networks. "This dynamic tool for GPRS networks offers an effective way of troubleshooting and analysing service usage, both from the business and technical point of view."

In addition to real-time monitoring, NetAct Traffica provides a means to investigate detailed reports of all call attempts made in the network by using Traffica off-line tools. With the Traffic News database query tool, operators can, for example, investigate in detail why, within a selected time period, call attempts and other subscriber events have failed in a particular area. This allows operators to respond more quickly to customer complaints.

The NetAct Traffica for GPRS complements the Nokia Traffica solution for fixed and GSM networks by extending its network monitoring capability to GPRS networks. The NetAct Traffica adaptation for 3G circuit-switched networks will also be available in the first quarter 2002.
