NEW YORK, November 19, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- (WITH PHOTO) With 6 days to go, www.gloryauction.com has been inundated with bids from all over the world for the wares of celebrities such as Britney Spears, Penelope Cruz, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Halle Berry, Gwyneth Paltrow and more. They have all donated "event-worn" gowns to be auctioned to raise money for the families of the September 11 tragedy.

"The Glory Auction is so exciting ... It's like watching a sporting event ... Everyone is glued to it, including me," said Sarah Michelle Gellar. "There are items that interest all Americans, men, women, teens, young and old."

In addition, sports stars, such as Derek Jeter, Mike Piazza, Frank Gifford, Jason Sehorn and more will be auctioning signed jerseys and sports memorabilia. Designers such as Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka, Calvin Klein, Valentino and more have generously donated clothing worn publicly by celebrities.

With over 1 million `hits,' in the first few days, the items getting the most attention are Penelope Cruz's Ralph Lauren gown from the premiere of her movie "Blow," Britney Spears' Betsy Johnson coat worn to a Madonna concert and Britney's Badgley Mischka beaded gown worn to the American Music Awards. Frank Gifford's signed Hall of Fame jersey, Angie Harmon's Vera Wang dress from the Vogue/VH1 Awards and Sheryl Crow's amazing leather pants calligraphied with the lyrics of her songs from the `Sorcerer' Music Video are also getting lots of bidding action. There are a lot of bidders interested in Pink, especially an outfit from her latest hit music video "Get this Party Started" and a Dolce & Gabbana outfit worn on her calendar and poster.

"The action is fast-paced and we still have 6 more days! We expect people to go all-out bidding for these items. Many people are starting their holiday shopping here," said Julie Hecht Wells, co-coordinator of the event.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Liberty Partnership Charity of the contributors' choice. A photo of each celebrity wearing the item is displayed online for authenticity. Those interested in bidding on an item may log onto www.gloryauction.com and place a bid. The auction is open to the public at no fee. Bidding officially closes on November 24 at midnight, EST.
