Nokia to supply GSM expansion to Omnitel in Lithuania


Nokia and Omnitel, Lithuania's biggest GSM operator have signed a frame agreement for the supply and installation of additional switching capacity to expand the company's GSM 900/1800 network capacity and to modernize it with the newest switching technology.

Omnitel will expand its GSM network capacity to cater for aggressive subscriber growth that is now taking place in Lithuania, enhance network quality with new services for the customers and enchance its Short Messaging Service Centre (SMSC) capacity to cater to the surge in SMS traffic.

Delieveries have already started and will continue throughout the years 2002 and 2003.
