HiQ and Ericsson Mobile Platforms Test 3G in Lund

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 8, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The IT and management consultancy, HiQ, has signed an agreement with Ericsson Mobile Platforms to develop and test mobile platforms. HiQ has opened a design center in Lund for this purpose.

The center will be used for development and testing of Ericsson's mobile platforms in GPRS and UMTS, i.e. 2.5G and 3G. The platforms will provide the specifications for the software in mobile phones of the future.

The assignment will initially run for two years and will involve about ten of HiQ's consultants.

"HiQ will have overall responsibility for the project, including project management, system development, testing and analysis," says Peter Davin, MD of HiQ Vast.

"HiQ has many years' experience of outsourced projects using its own staff in its own premises. One example is the development of training simulators for the JAS 39 Gripen, which we have worked on in a similar way since 1992," says Lars Stugemo, CEO HiQ.

"Our activities in Lund will complement our Danish subsidiary, which is now working throughout the Oresund region. The region is technology- intensive and many leading clients of HiQ have a base there - which we see as an advantage," says Stugemo.

Ericsson Mobile Platforms sells licenses for mobile platforms for 2.5G and 3G standards on the open market to manufacturers of mobile phones and other wireless communications equipment.

HiQ has been working with Ericsson since 1994.

HiQ is an IT and management consultancy that focuses on high tech solutions in the fields of telecoms, mobility and simulation technology. The company is a leader in these fields, and the Nordic region is its domestic market. HiQ employs 450 people at offices in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
