Northrop Grumman to Display Advanced Technologies at Asian Aerospace


LOS ANGELES, Jan. 28, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will demonstrate its advanced technology capabilities during Asian Aerospace 2002 in Singapore Feb. 26 - March 3 at the Changi Exhibition Center. The company's theme for the international aerospace exhibition is "Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Battle Management."

From under the sea to outer space and into cyberspace, Northrop Grumman technologies and products play a key role in the evolving defense environment of the 21st century. The fully integrated battle management of the near future will take a network-centric approach, in which communications among ships, satellites, armies, aircraft and submarines will be fused into a net of interconnectivity enabled through cyberspace. Northrop Grumman represents virtually every technology that will play a significant part in this modern era of warfare.

A wide range of advanced technologies will be displayed by the company, including defense electronics, airspace management and information systems. Northrop Grumman will underscore its leading role in the areas of unmanned aerial vehicle systems, combat and military surveillance aircraft and defense electronics and information technology. The company's Integrated Systems sector will emphasize its capabilities in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR); command, control and communications; and precision strike products with displays featuring Global Hawk, Fire Scout vertical takeoff and landing tactical unmanned aerial vehicle, Chukar, Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System and E-2.

Other Integrated Systems programs scheduled for display include the company's Affordable Moving Surface Target Engagement technology and airborne mine detection capabilities. In addition, as a prime subcontractor to The Boeing Company for the F/A-18 and team member with Lockheed Martin on the Joint Strike Fighter program, the sector will feature models of those aircraft.

Northrop Grumman's Electronic Systems sector will showcase its next-generation, multirole electronically scanned array radar, which it is supplying to Boeing for installation onboard a fleet of 737 Airborne Early Warning & Control aircraft for the Royal Australian Air Force under Project Wedgetail.

The Electronic Systems sector will also feature programs as diverse as the fire control radar upgrade for the F-16 fighter aircraft; the NEMESIS directional infrared countermeasures system; the Longbow radar and Longbow Hellfire missile for the AH-64D Apache attack helicopter; a combat aerial delivery radar for the C-130 and other large aircraft; air traffic control and air defense systems; and other leading-edge defense products.

The Information Technology sector will feature its C4ISR interoperability products, while the Component Technologies sector will highlight its onboard oxygen-generating systems for the C-130 and F-5 aircraft.
