Effnet: Sonopress to Offer DBB

Wkit Signs Agreement with Arvato Storage Media for DBB--Don't Bother Burn

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, February 01, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Effnet's subsidiary Wkit today announces that it has signed an agreement with Arvato Storage Media including it's Sonopress subsidiary to offer DBB (Don't Bother Burn(TM)) copy protection to it's CD-ROM customers. Sonopress is the second largest CD-plant worldwide. Arvato Storage Media is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bertelsmann Arvato AG, the international network of media service-providers of Bertelsmann AG.

Dr. Uwe Swientek, CEO of Arvato Storage Media says: "Being able to offer DBB demonstrates that we are ahead of any other replicator, always taking cue's from the requirements of the market and of customers. We will keep striding down the road of success with a combination of strong core businesses on the one hand and continually monitoring new ideas, growing additional business areas and using of high-tech systems on the other. A growing demand for copy protection among the content providers shows that our decision to offer DBB is right".

According to the latest report from BSA (Business Software Alliance) the estimated losses to piracy in Western Europe alone was US$ 3 billion during 2000, or a piracy rate of 34%. DBB is aimed at helping reduce these losses significantly. Through a dialogue with manufacturers during the developmental stages of the product, Wkit was able to add functionality that enables manufacturers to more efficiently manage copy protection.

DBB 3.0 for CD-ROM was newly released and has new protection schemes and functionality that make it more efficient for manufactures to add Wkit's copy protection in the mass production line then other copy protection providers.

"We will continue to develop and enhance DBB to add new functionality and protections schemes to keep ahead of the piracy. We see this as the first step in a chain of events that will enable more content providers to earn more revenue on their investment", concluded Joacim Lindback, CEO of Wkit Security AB.
