Telenor to run Danish governmental IT-systems from Norway

The deal, worth an estimated DKR 15-25 million this year, means that the Danish institutions' economic administrations systems will be run from Telenor's service centre in the town of Bergen on the west coast of Norway.

The agreement involves 350 institutions employing a total of 15,000 people, all of whom are to migrate to the economy administration system "Navision stat". The Agency for Governmental Management forms part of the Ministry of Finance, handling routines and systems for economic government in the Danish state administration. Some institutions have chosen external suppliers for the running of their systems, and Telenor Business Solutions will work in partnership with these suppliers.

"This deal represents a breakthrough for Telenor Business Solutions, positioning us firmly as a supplier of IT and applications services in Denmark. Telenor has for some time held a leading position in Norway, with a market share of approximately 60 per cent. We are now very happy to be able to announce this deal with The Agency for Governmental Management, not least since we have been competing with some of the leading players in this market," said Kim Toft Madsen, CEO of Telenor Business Solutions in Denmark.

"Through this agreement we are able to give our various institutions an alternative to running "Navision stat" themselves. Telenor met all our requirements, and we are very pleased with the solution we have chosen," said Farzad Saber, office manager at the Agency for Governmental Management.

The ASP-service will be run from Telenor's service centre in Bergen, which is the largest and most physically and technologically secure server-farm in the Nordic region. The centre is situated within a mountain, and its security level meets military standards.
