SKF Acquires Maintenance Engineering Company in the U.S.


GOTEBORG, Sweden, Feb.15, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- SKF has acquired 100% of the shares of Erin Engineering and Research, Inc. This technology and services company provides maintenance engineering and application knowledge for the reliability and performance of client's assets concentrating on the power generation and hydrocarbon processing industries in the USA. With annual revenue of some 14 million USD, Erin employs 45 people at its Walnut Creek, California headquarters and 45 additional persons in five locations throughout the United States.

- Erin's portfolio of products and services include software for maintenance, application engineering and reliability. This will enhance the total maintenance service capability that SKF is offering the market, says Phil Knights, President of SKF Service Division.

This acquisition is part of SKF's strategy to further expand into the service market by selling mechanical and engineering services, preventive and predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring solutions, in order to provide total life cycle management of customers' assets.
